Membership

Membership is free and open to anyone or any group that has an interest in the work being done by the Project or is a user of the services provided by the Project. All members must support the aims and objectives of Safe Strong and Free Project.

Safe strong and free project aim

To reduce the vulnerability of young children to sexual abuse and assault.

Objectives

To help parents, carers and young children develop appropriate strategies to deal with bullying, an approach by a stranger and an unwanted or inappropriate approach from an adult known to the child By:-

  • Providing workshops for adult carers, parents and children.
  • Promoting within the community the principles of the project in preventing child abuse and assault.

A further objective is that bullying and child sexual abuse is resisted or identified at an early stage thus minimising the damage to the emotional, sexual and general health of children, and the adults they mature into.

Membership categories

Membership is at the discretion of the board of directors.

  • Individual membership – individuals normally resident within the area of benefit (scotland) who support and/or have an interest in the work of the project. Individual members are entitled to one vote.
  • Corporate membership – local community groups, organisations, whether incorporated or unincorporated, and statutory bodies within the area of benefit (scotland) who support and/or have an interest in the work of the project. Corporate members are entitled to one vote.
  • Associate membership – non voting membership shall be open to advisers, being individuals, representatives of corporate groups or corporate groups.

Liability:

Every member of the company undertakes to contribute such amount as may be required (not exceeding one pound) to the company assets if it should be wound up whilst he/she is a member or within one year after he/she ceases to be a member for payment of the company’s debts and liabilities contracted before he/she ceased to be a member and of the costs, charges and expenses of winding up and for the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves.
